Baked Turkey Meatballs

1 pound ground turkey
1/2 small yellow onion, diced
2 tablespoons minced garlic
5 strips of bacons, crumbled
1 egg yolk
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons tomato sauce
2 tablespoons parsley
1 tablespoon chives

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees, but place the top rack in the top third of the oven. In a skillet, cook the bacon until crispy, then crumble it. Add the onions and saute until they are soft. In a bowl, mix the ground turkey, egg yolk, tomato sauce, minced garlic, chives and parsley. Stir in the onion mixture. Scoop into meatballs and place on a greased baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes.

The original recipe called for ground chicken and I wonder if this would have made the difference I was looking for. The meatballs were kind of tasteless, especially with bacon cooked the way it was. I'm going to try these again, but with chicken instead of turkey and I'll cook and crumble the bacon beforehand; also, adding more garlic (have to agree with B on this one).

**This time I crumbled the bacon, added chives and more garlic. They were still bland. This recipe needs some WORK!
